The most common chafing is the thigh rub. Many people with inner-thigh chafing understand the discomfort and embarrassment of having their thighs rub against each other. If you have a problem with chafing, don't worry, you're not the only who has this problem. Chafing is a common occurrence with both men and women.

The good news is there are many remedies you can try to prevent skin chafing.

1. Talcum powder, cornstarch and potato starch can be used to keep your skin dry during light physical activity.

2. If your physical activity causes lots of sweating like running, crossfit and heavier workouts, you may try the following to help reduce your skin rubbing themselves raw:

Drink plenty of water. If you are well hydrated, your body will sweat freely so the salt in your sweat don't get a chance to evaporate and turn into salt crystal that can irritate your skin.

Moisturize you skin before your workout. If your skin is too dry, when they rub against each other for long periods of time, you're more likely to hurt. You could try lubricants that allow your skin to glide without any friction. Many runners like using petroleum jelly because it won't sweat off since it's non-water based. You can also buy non-petroleum based body lubricants in most sports shops.

Wear the correct sports gear. People who have chafing problems like wearing compression shorts and compression tights. The compression helps separate the thigh from each leg and stop them from rubbing against each other. Be careful to choose compression shorts and compression tights that are made of spandex/nylon material, so similar synthetic fibers that helps wicks sweat away as these are the most effective at prevent chafing. Don't wear cotton as they then to collect sweat and weigh you down.
